Bubble Ghost - ZX Spectrum 128K
-------------------------------

You're a ghost. You have a soap bubble.
Somehow you need to get it through all 35 halls of a castle full of candles, spikes, fans
and other things that would love to pop it. You can't touch the bubble, so you blow it along.

It sounds simple. Then a fan sends the bubble somewhere you really didn't want it to go.

This is my fan conversion of the Game Boy version of Bubble Ghost for the ZX Spectrum 128K, +2, +2A and +3.

The Spectrum version

The aim was to bring the Game Boy game across without losing its character.
The graphics have been redrawn to suit 2 colours and we've managed to fit in all 35 halls
and the original ending, as well as AY versions of the music and sound effects.

Each room is a little puzzle. You need to work out where to stand, which way to blow and when to let the bubble drift.
Candles, fans, switches and traps make that rather less straightforward than it first looks.

You can play with the keyboard or a Sinclair or Kempston joystick.

In the download

- TAP and TZX tape files
- +3 DSK disc image
- 128k SNA snapshot for a quick start in an emulator
- Cover art and a cassette inlay you can print and fold

It's free to download. Pick the format that suits your machine or emulator.

Getting started

From tape: choose Tape Loader on a 128K or +2, or Loader on a +2A or +3, then press ENTER.

From disc: on a +3, choose Loader.

In an emulator: use a 128K configuration and either load the tape file or open the SNA snapshot directly.
Don't choose 48 BASIC: the game needs the extra memory and bank switching.

Controls

- Q / A / O / P — up, down, left, right
- SPACE or M — blow
- ENTER — start / pause
- R — retry the hall
- N — start a new game

Sinclair 1, Sinclair 2 and Kempston joysticks are supported too.

A couple of tips

Try short puffs rather than holding blow all the time.
Getting around to the other side of the bubble is often more useful than trying to force it through a gap.
Watch the fans and moving traps before committing yourself.

If a room gets the better of you, ENTER pauses and R lets you retry.
There are also cheats if you fancy exploring: Z for infinite lives, X for bubble protection and C to skip to the next hall.
